GRE Scores from Applicants in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Korea
     In August 2002, ETS suspended computer-based testing for the GRE tests 
in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Korea because widespread security breaches 
of this testing system were discovered in these countries. Since that date, 
only written tests have been administered in these four countries.
     We realize that the timing of our application cycle makes it extremely 
difficult for applicants to take the paper based GRE test before our January
 15, 2003 application deadline. As a result, we will accept CBT scores for a
pplications for Fall 2003. We do, however, reserve the right to offer studen
ts from China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Korea positions in our graduate progra
m that are provisional upon the successful completion of the paper based GRE
 test.
    For applications for Spring 2004 and beyond, we will only accept PBT sco
res from the affected countries.
     Computer-based GRE tests from countries other than China, Taiwan, Hong 
Kong, and Korea are not affected by this policy. We still accept computer-ba
sed GRE scores from all other countries as in the past.
