今天签证时交上去的,同时还付上了part-time的证明和award。虽然不知道有没有直接
的
作用,但至少偶说话的时候底气能足些。
希望有用。
Dear Visa Officer:
My application for a visa to study in the United States was rejected on June
11, 2001 because of the following reason according to the visa officer who
interviewed me: Since I have already held a Master degree in Chemistry at
Fudan University, it's easy for me to find a decent position here in Shangha
i. So she might wonder why I would like to spend another five years pursuing
a Ph.D. degree in the United State.
While I respect visa officer's job to prevent under-qualified people from en
tering the United States, I strongly believe that there must be a misunderst
anding between the visa officer and my personal plan. Evidently, a Ph.D. deg
ree obtained in the United States is of vital importance to my career develo
pment in China where I am determined to achieve my first five-year goal to b
ecome a leading research scientist in chemistry.
I do admit that an excellent Fudan student will undoubtedly find a quite dec
ent job in China no matter whether BS degree or MS degree they have obtained
. However, a Ph.D. degree, especially the one from the United States, means
a higher start point towards a leader. Actually, in July 1998, I was offered
an admirable position of Technical & Sales Engineer in $$ Shanghai Ltd., a
well known US company providing hi-tech products and outstanding services to
many big chemical companies. Without my long time of excellent working perf
ormance as a part-time technical assistant in this company, they will never
offer such a key position to a new graduate like me. However, I declined thi
s generous offer, thinking that I am still young, and the more I learn the b
righter future I will enjoy. So I told $$ Shanghai's general manager, Dr. Ro
bert Lo, who also appreciated my work very much that I would come back to $$
Shanghai when I get my Ph.D degree in the United States.
My intensive desire to come back to Shanghai after graduation is greatly str
engthened when I heard from my former manager that $$ are planning to set up
a new R&D center in PuDong Hi-tech Zone. As you may know, $$ is a global hi
-tech company famous for its special organic polymers and their applications
in chemical industries. This field has a good match for my prospective rese
arch areas-- Syntheses and applications of new organic substances with novel
properties-in the Department of Chemistry at the University of **. Be
sides, the new R&D center will be established within around three years. I f
irmly believe that the young center must be in great need of highly qualifie
d researchers when I finish my advanced education in the States 4-5 years la
ter. Moreover, in $$ Shanghai Ltd., a lot of excellent Ph.D.s were put into
key positions these years due to its Localization Policy for Senior Managers
. My former division manager and supervisor are two good examples. Both of t
hem are returned students from the United States with their Ph.D. degrees in
Chemistry and EE. In addition, my over two years of outstanding working per
formance in $$ Shanghai, plus my former manager's strong recommendation, wil
l ensure me a decent research position in this company after my graduation.
And I am also sure that I will be promoted to a leading research scientist a
fter a few years of hard work there. My career objective will undoubtedly be
realized step by step as I am designing now.
On basis of the above reasons, I respectfully request that you reconsider my
visa application. Your favorable decision will be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely yours,
corey
