Hi, everyone,
My wife called me yesterday and told me something about the
situation in Beijing. A consular officer is placed at the
main entrance of the consulate department to preview the
I-20 form. If the fund from school minus the tuition(i.e.
the net stipend) is above $15,000, the officer will grant
the F-2 application immediately. If this amount is a little
less than $15,000(for example $14,000 or 13,000) the
officer will let the applicant enter to receive further
review. If the amount is far from $15,000 or the fund from
school is less than the tuition, the officer will reject
the application and the applicant even has no opportunity
to enter the embassy. It is said that the daily total
applicants are around 300(the number of F-2 applicants is
not clear), and the successful F-2 applicants are about 7
to 8 (including the visiting parents)in best situation, and
it also happened that none of the F-2 applicants was
granted the visa in certain day.
