签证小记


我是那天和版主 Feng_L 一起去签证的,签完证后将论文抛到九宵云外在上
海疯完了几天才回来.Feng L 将咱们签证的前前后后都写得非常清楚了.我
就将问到我的一些小问题和体会和大家共享.大家最好不要一个人去,三四个
人挺好的.这样在排领表队和签证队大家可互相有个照应,另外由于等的时间
挺长的,大家一快说说笑笑好打发时间.最重要的是,当你进入签证的那个房间
,里面那种气氛很容易让人紧张.人很多,又由于号并不是完全按顺序叫的,指
不准下一个就到你呢.你面前等待着的面孔都是焦急的,签过的面孔是兴奋加
激动,没签过的却又是沮丧得让你看着都难受的表情.有同行的人会或多或少
让你消除紧张之情.我领的是131号,坐在那越等越紧张,Feng L 便安慰我说
:"把BBS 上贴出来常问的问题再想一想." 这么一分神, 倒也不是太难受. 
Feng L 在我前面签的, 他在那站了好长时间, 我正替他紧张时,他回过头
朝我和另一个同志笑笑, 我想他肯定没啥问题了,越发地不紧张了.等到
Feng L 顺利打响咱们同行三人的第一炮时, 我已经信心十足了.我这回运气
不错, 本来按我的号是小男孩签的,不知怎么转到魔女那了.我一上去,先来了
一句 " Hi" , 后面又一紧张, 没词了,不料魔女居然惊讶的来了一句:" Speaking
English?" 我果断地来了一句 " yeah!" 魔女才反应过来我是签 F-1,翻翻我的
材料,就开始写些什么了.下面是她随口问的一些问题:
1: Where will you go in USA?
2: Why do you choose this U?
3: Where are you from?
4: How many Universities have you applied?
5: How many give you admission?
6: How many give you finiancial aid?
7: What are these U ?
问题虽不少但都很简单, 她也只是漫不经心的听着, 我用了两 " Pardon" ,
 还有一次用迷惑的样子代替了" Pardon" ,可当魔女告诉我" Wisconsin is
 very cold" , 我一愣, 赶紧说没关系之类的话,心想她不会劝我知冷而退吧
. 没想到她下一句是: " But itis very beatuiful." 最后笑眯眯地告诉我: 
" Wisconsin is my hometown." 我这才明白了, 怪不得问题都这么 Easy 了
, 敢情是遇上老乡了.所以去 Wisconsin的遇上魔女没系, 她可不能不顾咱
未来的老乡情了, 嘻嘻. 别的拿全奖的也应该没问题,大家肯定能签过去.


It took only not more than half a minute for me to get the visa.My number
 is 198,the visa officail is a beatiful girl,on window 3.It's very lucky that we
 three were approved easily by her.She asked very simple questions.Here
 is my experience:

M:Hi,你好!
O:Good morning!
M(look at my watch and smile):Good noon! (it's 12:35 )
O(also look at her watch and smile):Oh,Good afternoon!
O:Where are you going to study?
M:Cornell University!
O:Cornell? OK, When will you graduate?
M:July, this summer.O:Will you get BS or Master's degree?
M:No!(I don't hear it clearly,and think she ask me will I get Master'sdegree.)
O:I mean what degree will you get this summer?
M(realize I made a mistake, but not at all nervous, speak loudly): Bachelorof
 Science!
O:OK,what are you going to do after graduation?
M: Come back to China, and find a position in a university!
O:OK,I think there is no problem to get your F-1 visa,pleae come here at 
3 am .....M: Thank you very much!
O:Bye-bye!
M:.....(I forget to answer!)

总体印象是签证官比较负责,不会故意刁难.问的问题也比较简单,特别是
WINDOW3的女签证官比较好过,和我一起的三位科大的都很顺利的通过
了!一号窗口的金发魔女看材料很仔细,问题也比较多,但只要是全奖,材料
齐全,一般没有问题.所以不要紧张.建议:带把伞,下雨挡水;天热防晒.我们五
点钟就有人排队,到11点才进去,在外面晒太阳的滋味可不好受.集体去签
证好处多多,一来可分工合作,一部分人领表,一部分人排队;二来可相互鼓
劲安慰.申请表最好先填一下草表. 现在F-1签证很好签的,祝大家好运!

Me:Because the USA holds the leading position in the research of 
mathematicsO:why do you choose Ohio State university?
Me:Because the dept of maths in that school has a strong faculty in 
algebraand number theory.O:how did you know the Ohio state university?
Me:From the catalog of the universityO:what are you doing now?
Me:I am writing my graduation paperO:when will you graduate?
Me:In this summer.O:How many school have you applied?
Me:(犯土)twenty-eightO:eight?
Me:(又土一把)twenty-eight
O:(两眼发亮)twenty-eight!!!how many accepted you?
Me:sixO:(慢不竟心的)Is it expensive to apply so many school?
Me:(再土一把)It cost me.....O:(作不满状)...Me:pardon?
O: is it expensive to apply so many school?yes or no?
Me:(思索片刻）yesO:下舞三点凭这来拿。
Me:thank you very much.Visa Information

sorry I can not write the Chinese in terminal.

Monday, we (6 persons) arrival in Shanghai.Monday the office is close for
 holiday.we get to office in 5:00 am in Tuesday.and get the visa in 11:00 
am.All the 6 persons passed. No refused.And also a girl in AHU got pass
 major in literature.a man got pass with $7000 self-support.

So do not be nervous.It is easy.I think the Ran Zhou will tell more about it.
Tips:

1. there must be some body to go together.
2. to guess the meaning of what the officer said.
3. to say something if you do not know what to do.
4. to get the place early and if possible spend two day to getvisa .
 first day afternoon to get the offical table. andsecond day morning to 
apply for visa.

here is question.

why did you choose the school.Did you really think so?
How did you know it is famous.what will you do after your graduation.
did you have family in US.your application is approved. Please come 
here 3 clock this afternoon.



签证心得


坐元月20号晚的290, 于第二天(周三)早6:10到了上海. 从南出口出来左拐
找到地铁, 两元买到衡山站, 由四号出口出右拐, 在第一个十字路口左拐, 没
几步就看到很多人在排队, 这就是美驻沪领事馆.由于周一(19号)放假, 据说
周二人很多,有些人就没排到, 周三又来. 我6:30多到的, 大约在100多位, 因
为八点开签,九点领表, 所以很多人是填好表来的. 象我们也没必要去很早
排队, 九点领了表, 再填, 不到十点填完, 也快轮到我了. 我十点多进去, 在
最左的窗口交钱170RMB, 然后在旁边的窗口交材料和收据及领号, 材料
主要交护照, I-20,录书,和在门口填的表. 其余可交可不交. 我领的是165号.
 签证官有三个,小胡子, 大男孩, 金发阿姨, 金发魔女不在, 改由大男孩. 小胡
子效率极高,别人签一个, 他会签两三个, 当然拒的快, 签的也快. 其余两个则
有很多问题问.我是大男孩签的. 问题很简单, 也很快. 全奖加名校是没什么
问题的. 尽管我回答问题不太顺, 主要是太吵, 而且大男孩说话声音不太大,
 又快. 小胡子倒是很好, 在旁边听听, 他的声音最大, 且语速较慢.下午一点
交钱拿护照, 出来两点多. 坐地铁到陕西南路找到锦江饭店,作3:30的凯斯
鲍尔到合肥, 正点到达的时间是晚10:05.总的看来, 拒签的很多, 探亲的, 旅
游的, 做生意的, 还有访问学者,留学的好象还可以. 探亲的只要对方的钱多
, 也没什么问题. 那天去签的有三百多, 签到的不到一百.匆匆忙忙办完一切
, 该回家过年了. 祝大家出国顺利!



签证心得


自打定歪歪肠子去米国看看，呕心沥血，天天一盆，一包，一字典，苦
行于二教、六餐和宿舍。数战ＥＴＳ于一教、四牌楼，总算签得城下之
盟。
再者玩命要表，辛苦联系，人民币花花外流，总算换来Ｉ－２０。于是开
始地狱旅行，到处找头头脑脑签字盖章，公安局里点头哈腰，总算拿到护
照。
在科大又玩了两个星期，拿好东西去签证。到美利坚前的最后一战。

周日到上海时还是毛毛小雨。周一起个大早，雨已歇了，风却紧得很。一
路颠到乌鲁木齐路，已有不少人在排队等候。签证的地方离美领馆的大门
还有段距离，高高的围墙，黑黑的大门。填好签证的草表，就在寒风中等
着。看看身前身后的人，老头老太太的居多，Ｆ－１的也有些。好不容易
挨到开门的时间，第一批就把我给放了进去。里面又是长长的队，交钱，
交材料，领个号等着签证官叫。我看看小黑板上写的号，想排个避开传说
中的杀手的号。可是人实在太多，里面的气氛有很沉闷，一念之间就算了
。爱谁谁吧。

一边排着队等着交材料，一边看着那边三个窗口签证的情形。３号窗口给
拒的成堆，被拒的老头老太们在那儿仍不肯走，不知在问些什么，只听见
里面经常答复的一声：这是美国的法律。而一号窗口的女签证官看来却很
和蔼，当一个老头从她那签出来后她甚至还祝愿了一句，“祝你旅途愉快
。”看着看着就到了我，交了材料拿了号，５７，三号窗口的号。当时真
是立刻觉得一股寒气，想避开谁偏避不开，呜呜。

麦克风里叫号了，５６号。一个职业妇女模样打扮的小姐走了上去，我知
道下一个就是我了。心里说不紧张那是胡扯。我告诫自己，别紧张，放松
。
正这么想着，麦克风就又响了，５７号。不到一分钟，５６号就给拒了。

我走上前，签证官刚把护照和材料还给那位小姐呢。调整一下自己的表情
，打算给签证官来个微笑。可那小姐拿了护照材料仍不肯离去，我这好不
容易调整出来的微笑浪费了。没辙，咱单练吧。以下对话Ａ就是我，Ｖ
是那传说中的厉害签证官。

Ａ：Good morning, Sir. Nice to meet you.
Ｖ：Hi, good morning. (he have a look on my I-20 and passport)
Ｖ：why you want to USA?
Ａ：To purse my Ph. D. degree.
Ｖ：why you chose *** (the name of University I will attend)
Ａ：Because I am interested in the program I will attend in thisuniversity.
Ｖ：which program?
Ａ：***(the name of my major), mainly focusing on ***

＊到此为止的问题较简单，而且都是我有所准备的

Ｖ：en...OK, why ?*&^%$%^&&#$%@#$I can not hear clear this question
, just some words like "ocean""flow". I wondered whether I should reply this
 question and Idelayed.
Ａ：en... ...I thinkThe Consulate realized my delay and gazed me for while
, I lookedhim directly too. I think I must be confident at that time. He moved 
his eyes and continued to askＶ：why sea nearby Shanghai looks red?
Oh, my God. I have never seen the sea nearby Shanghai and this is the
 first time for me to go to Shanghai. But he asked, because itcan be
 thought as a question relevant to my major.

＊事到如今，不能再不说了，只好捣浆糊了。

Ａ：oh, I think it is an optical phenomena ( an error)
Ｖ：optical? I mean it's caused by what? Pollution?
Ａ：Yeah, it is caused by pollution.Ｖ：Pollution?
(He removed his eyes from my documents and gazed me again, he 
disbelieve my answer? I must confirm it)
Ａ：Yeah, pollution, I can say.
Ｖ：Pollution of what? Air Pollution?
Ａ：oh, in general, we can not separate atmosphere from ocean.  I 
think it partly because air pollution and partly because oceanicpollution.
Ｖ：oh. (He began to write something on a sheet, I saw the words"F-1",
 I knew I would pass. Something delightful rose in my heart.He made a 
quick check of all my materials, admission letter, T.G.official score reports
 and transcript, degree certificate.)Ｖ：what are you doing now?
Ａ：I am a technician of USTC Hi-Tech Company.
Ｖ：Ok, come back 2:00 this afternoon and get your Visa(I knew I had 
passed this final test, I am realy pleased.)Ａ：yeah, thank you sir!
Ｖ：that's all right.(He gave me the receipt and I turned back. I made 
a gesture of victory at once.)

1. 一定要从容镇定，别发慌
2. 问题一般来说都比较简单，但若相遇杀手可能会有刁钻的问题。
从秋天走的哥们姐们和我自己的经历来说，他会问些和你要学的专
业相关的问题。这些问题你懂不懂不要紧，但一定要回答，千万别说
：“sorry, I am not sure how to answer this question.”
3. 总之，要让签证官知道两件事a. 你听得懂英语b. 你会说英语
